RINGERS - RECORD LENGTH PEAL

This peal was videoed throughout, in case there was doubt that we had succeeded. The video was recorded using a vhs video camcorder which was connected to a vhs video recorder; a three hour tape was used in long-play mode so that up to six hours could be recorded - this was sufficient since the peal lasted just over five hours.
Several year's later, the vhs recording was converted to a dvd using a digital freeview dvd recorder which had an auxilliary input.
Four short sections have been converted to wmv format and uploaded to YouTube and hence can be viewed here: the Start, a Middle section, the Finish, the Ringing Down.

Magor, 2000 12 24 1210, Record Length Peal Grandsire Doubles, ringers, the start, 180s
This section is the start. It includes the 2nd ringer practicing picking up a piece of Mars bar off the pew whilst ringing, a strategy he hoped to put to good use during the peal.

Magor, 2000-12-24 1248, Record Length Peal Grandsire Doubles, ringers, middle, 180s.wmv
This section is in the middle, about 30 minutes into the peal. The ringing has speeded up considerably since the start of the peal; this pace was to be maintained for the remainder of the peal. This section includes the 2nd ringer picking up a piece of Mars bar off the pew whilst ringing, but unfortunately dropping it on the floor !

Magor, 2000 12 24 1715, Record Length Peal Grandsire Doubles, ringers, the finish, 270s
This section is the finish, and it includes the umpires congratulating the ringers on their success. It also includes the 2nd ringer retrieving the piece of piece of Mars bar which he had dropped during the peal (4½ hours earlier).

Magor, 2000 12 24 1722, Record Length Peal Grandsire Doubles, ringers, ringing down, 276s
This section is the ringing down. Three of the ringers were umpires during the peal.
